hard to be original when everything's been done, but when there isn't any effort being made in a video to find a concept not as trite as most, then I have absolutely no sympathy. Others may say that different videos are good for different reasons and that it's hard to make an insightful video with a song about "getting it on" or "getting wasted." Well, I think they've answered their own question. You see, the quality of music has suffered, as well, and I, for one, don't appreciate it.
However, there do have to be bad videos so that the good ones will be appreciated, but when the good videos aren't being put into heavy rotation, there's no way their brilliance will be as highly regarded as it should.
Another thing that has been greatly annoying me is the fact that some girls keep complaining about how rap videos "degrade women," and how "all women should be treated with respect." Pardon my lack of sympathy, but rap videos don't degrade women; women degrade women. The girls in those videos knew exactly what they were doing and seem proud of it on television. Besides, many of them were paid for it! Plus, what about guys? They deserve to be treated with as much respect as women do, and are often seen in very little clothing in videos, which feminists don't seem to mind at all. I, personally, am not at all attracted to men who try to show off how "hot" they think they are, for I value intellect and personality, as opposed to biceps and dyed hair.
Even some hard rock videos are conforming with the current system. They claim to be against "booty" videos and "sissy" boy bands, though they make videos that show them as basically 'N SYNC with an attitude.
To make a long and boring editorial short, I would like to say that I am highly against the majority of music videos on television these days, and I hope that people spend more time contemplating the core content of music rather than the irrelevant appearance of the artists who make it.
