this doesn't undermine my Lewiston pride (Lewiston side of the Androscoggin forever!!) but I do think that credit should be given where it is well deserved. Edward Little's Marching Theatre Ensemble, directed by Mr. Shane Davis and new addition Mr. Ken Lingad (of Yamaha Corp., oooooh!) performed Jesus Christ Super Star... and did they ever perform it. E.L.'s show was definitely one of the highlights of this year's marching band circuit.
More dramatic than technical, the performance included scatter drills (for all you band lingo illiterates, that means you get to run around and do what you want, basically), and huge percussion highlights. Also, their colorguard was almost unbelievable. The amount of precision and beauty and emotion that went into the colorguard choreography was unmatched. From flags resembling bright flames to a segment where the colorguard acts as though they are beating one of the other colorguard members, you couldn't help but be brought to tears. I'd like to congratulate E.L. (as though any of them will ever get their hands on our newspaper... heh, heh) for performing my personal favorite show this year, and for their high marks at States.
So, that's State Championships, marching band, and E.L's show, in a nutshell! Stay tuned for more about exactly what your own band is doing now and in the future. Remember, we go to your sports events... heck, we play at them! Come see us sometime, at least return the favor! We're worth your while, I promise! We rock!
