The Blue Devil marching band started its new season August 8th with its annual band camp. The week long camp, stressing drill and marching technique, proved that the band is capable of living up to its State Champion status from last year. This year's band, which includes more than twenty-five freshmen, is on of the largest in LHS history.

cata and Fugue in D minor, the theme from the new movie Psycho, and Night on Bald Mountain. The unusually short show is only slightly over the minimal Maine Band Directors Association requirement of seven minutes, but is packed with suspense and excitement.

cellent job of conducting the band. As always, the director is Mr. Ray Libby, and the marching staff includes drill instructor Jeff Orwig and also Pauline Moreau, and color guard instructors Laurie Cote and Cindy Deschesne.
The first competition will be held September 23rd at Deering High School in Portland. Other competitions will be held throughout the fall season at places including Old Orchard Beach and South Portland. Good luck to the Lewiston High School Blue Devils Marching Band in their 2000 season.
