POO PART TWO

By: Dominick Ward-Pistone

As continued from previous segment: ADHD, better known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, effects approximately 3-5 percent of all children and 2 percent of all adults. Looking back upon the cast of characters included in the Whiney the Poo cartoons, one may come across as an immature, hyperactive tiger named Tigger. Tigger happens to fall within the statistics listed above. What is most unusual about Tigger, is the fact that he is constantly jumping up and down on his tail singing songs about how he is the only Tigger. Could these be the results of ADHD, or could they be caused by something else? The Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 2000 states that adults with ADHD are more likely to develop mental disorders, like depression and anxiety, as well as substance abuse problems, like alcoholism and drug dependence. Whether or not Tigger is a junkie is not for me to say. However what I can say for sure is that bouncing up and down upon one's tail is not safe at all.

To most people Whiney the Poo would be considered the main character in his adventures, although all of Poo's adventures are really just a result of Christopher Robin's delusions. After all, Poo is simply a stuffed animal whom Christopher Robin pretends to see walk and talk. It seems to me that Christopher Robin is suffering from delusional behavior. The cause of his insanity is unknown. Medical research has proven that some people suffer from delusional disorder due to syphilis or a tumor in the brain. My theory is that one day Christopher Robin came across some mushrooms while wondering through the forest. Mushrooms that he should never have eaten. However, like most children of his age, the timeless rule of "look but don't touch" never seemed to apply to himself. So, now he has illusions of his stuffed animals walking and talking, completely oblivious to the fact that he is under the influence of hallucinogenic fungi. However, as always, that is only my opinion.
