When Chris Jericho entered the World Wrestling Federation in August of 1999, his mission was to save the (supposedly) floundering WWF with his charisma, ability, and overall greatness. So, when the Blue Blaze contacted yours truly about writing a wrestling column for its next publication, I figured it would not be too difficult to follow in Jericho's footsteps, and bring some entertainment to the school paper. With that said, I am here to discuss my love and knowledge of the WWF and professional wrestling in general, so c'mon baby, lets get to it!
Most people either watch wrestling and love it, or watch wrestling and loathe it. Over the past couple of years, professional wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation in general has grown to enormous popularity. By pushing the creative envelope further and further, WWF CEO Vince McMahon has turned off some peo

ple but has gained truckloads of supporters. When I started watching the shows a decade ago, top star Hulk Hogan told everyone to say their prayers and eat their vitamins. Just over ten years later, the new WWF "Attitude" has taken over. Rather than keep up the act of wrestling being a real sport, McMahon and Co. happily admit that it's nothing more than a male soap opera, full of action, drama and suspense. Instead of saying your prayers, today's favorites would prefer you smash any enemy over the head with a folding chair. As for the vitamins? Well, The Rock is just the man to tell you exactly where to place them, pending they are shined up real nice and turned sideways. The WWF has also broken ito the mainstream media as well. A few months back, aforementioned superstar The Rock hosted the highest rated episode of Saturday Night Live that has aired this season. Along with hosting the prestigious show, The Rock's biography attained the number one position on the New York Times best-seller list, as did fellow wrestler Mick "Mankind"

Foley's autobiography a few months before. The bottom line on the World Wrestling Federation today is that business is hotter than ever, and fan support is larger than ever, making it one entertainment force to reckon with.
With my long, drawn out, "Wrestling 101" section of the article behind us, it's about that time to wrap up my debut article for the Blue Blaze. Depending on when you read this, be sure to catch the WWF's WrestleMania on Pay-Per-View April 2 to get a glimpse of the greatness I described in the above paragraph, as it should be a great show. Also, the Eastern Wrestling Alliance will be (kind of) in town for a show on April 8 at Edward Little. Current LHS student Scott Wise will be appearing on behalf of our school, and 1999 graduate Kevin Mailhot will also be on the card, so check it out. That is about it for me this month, but hopefully I can return soon with more wrestling stuff if the Blue Blaze smells what their newest columnist is cookin'!

Real Music

By: Johanna Mathieu

Step 1: Begin with a stack of applications.

Step 2: Discard any of the applications that have monetary awards of less than $1000 or require any sort of monetary investment, including processing fees.

Step 3: If an essay is required and its supposed to be: A. typed, B. more than 500 words, C. has a prompt that is something to the effect of "what do you want to

be when you grow up?" D. written in French, or E. has a prompt that is more than 1 sentence, then discard of the application.

Step 4: Determine who the money is paid to and when. Discard of those that say, "rewards paid directly to the college upon successful completion of first semester."

Step 5: If you still have any applications left: discard them. Everyone and their brother will be applying for scholarships that easy to fill out.

No matter how you look at it, music is involved in everybody's life. Whether you just listen to it or you play it or sing it, music becomes part of you. Here, at Lewiston High School, we have an award winning Band and a great choir on the rise. We also offer Jazz Choir after school and Marching band. I am just trying to find the real meaning to the words that go to the great beat. I think that that is what we are all trying to do. Maybe the secret meaning of life is written in those words. To me, music has always been there. If you are down, there is a song for it. If you are really happy, there is a song for that. In love? Feel like mellowing out? Hey, there is even that one song for you and your love. Sometimes you just need to stop and listen to the music. There are very few of us who actually stop and really listen. Sure, you know all the words to the Blink 182 song but do you really know what it means? Do you know the real music?
